CURRENT AUDITIONS
Every year Fly-By Theatre conducts a summer workshop called On The Fly, wherein directors and performers can research, question, investigate and experiment with different methods of performance. This research project allows participants to analyze old and current trends in performing methods and put those trends to the test. We feel that this project is vital to a career in the performing arts because what one believes about performing should never stagnate.

In the past, this workshop was extremely popular for three reasons:

  1. It explores physical acting techniques that are not taught in the Atlanta area
  2. It is for professionals only
  3. There is no cost to participate

This workshop, much like our audition, works on physical and vocal acting skills that are appropriate for ALL mediums and methods of performing (i.e. Film, Theatre, Dance Theatre, Stanislavski, Grotowski, and Meisner). For more information on the dates and availability of the workshop, please contact us.

If you feel that your physical and vocal skills are more on a beginner's level or if you have friends that you think would benefit from this workshop, there is a different section of the workshop which meets during the day. This section is open to everyone and is filled on a first come, first served basis. This section, however, is not free of charge.

GENERAL AUDITIONS
All acting positions are paid, non-equity positions.

Although we are members of ACPA, we do NOT participate in the general auditions because our audition process is so unique.

Please contact us regarding dates and availability of auditions.

AUDITION REQUIREMENTS
Prepare 1 monologue, no longer than 1.5 minutes in length.

Fly-By Theatre prides itself on creating a professional, fun and committed rehearsal atmosphere. We believe that in order to create such an environment we must hire performers that are professional, fun and committed. Finding such people, we believe cannot be done in a three-minute audition. We make every effort to truly get to know the performer – artistically, intellectually and personally – during our audition process. Our audition process is therefore somewhat unique.

  • We hold auditions in groups of ten people.
  • The audition lasts approximately 75 minutes.
  • In addition to performing monologues, we also do simple movement exercises, which are suitable for all ages and levels of experience. Come dressed to move.
  • Be prepared to answer these questions:
    1. How do you approach a role?
    2. Who/What has been an inspirational source for your work?
