Old Times is the story of Kate and Deeley, a couple in their forties who have escaped the hustle and bustle of London in favor of the more subdued countryside. Anna, an old friend of Kates, comes to visit. Underneath the surface of their witty conversation lurk innuendoes and suggestions until the present is overwhelmed with intimations of some wilder, darker past.
Harold Pinter holds an undisputed place in the forefront of contemporary playwrights. Since 1957, when his first play, The Room, was produced, Pinter has continued to turn out an impressive body of work, not only for the theater but for film and television as well. His first major success came in 1960 with The Caretaker. He is the author of such modern classics as The Birthday Party, No Mans Land, The Dumb Waiter, and The Homecoming, which won the Drama Critics Circle Award. His screenplays include The Servant, Accident, The Go-Between, The Last Tycoon, The French Lieutenants Woman, and The Proust Screenplay, an adaptation of A la Recherche du Temps Perdu.
